All-Time Best Lefthanded NFL Quarterbacks

Jim Zorn played college football at Cal Poly Pomona, but was not drafted when he came out of college.  In 1976 he joined the Seattle Seahawks, a new NFL expansion team, as a free agent and almost immediately became their starting quarterback.

Zorn started 14 games for the Seahawks in 1976, and started at least 10 games for the next 6 years.  He was a part-time starter for the next 3 years with the Seahawks, then started 5 games for the Green Bay Packers in 1985 and 1 game with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers in 1987 before his retirement.  His career record is 44 wins and 62 losses in 106 game started and 140 games played.  He completed 1669 passes in 3149 attempts for a 53% completion percentage.  He threw for 21,115 yards with 111 touchdowns and 141 interceptions.

For most of his career, Zorn was the best player on a losing team, but he did lead them to a 9-7 win/loss record in both his 3rd and 4th season.  He made the NFL All-Rookie Team in 1976.  After his playing career, Zorn served 8 years as an assistant coach in college, and for 12 years as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in the NFL.  He also served as head coach of the Washington Redskins in 2008 and 2009.
